How to Optimize Healing During Large Events

When you go to your hospital to heal your injured soldiers, it is possible to move the slider on the screen to change how many soldiers you want to heal in one go. Each additional soldier you add to a healing batch will increase the time it takes to complete the process.
Every time a fellow alliance member pushes the "alliance help" button, the time remaining to complete the healing process gets reduced by a certain amount (depending on your tech research progress, etc).
In order to optimize the healing process, you should align the batch size to the maximum bonus time the alliance help feature gives you. How to calculate it?
Go to the Alliance > Help screen. This will show you progress bars for all the time-based processes that can be helped by the Alliance.

Take note of the amount of healing assists you have received for the healing batch (12 in this picture).
If you stay on this page a bit longer, the progress bar text will change to show "Time decrease: xx:xx:xx".

Simple arithmetic will give you the time decrease per heal:
3630 seconds / 12 = 302.5 seconds per heal assist.
Multiply this number by the total amount of healing assists available to you:
302.5 x 26 = 7865 seconds = 2 hours, 11 minutes and 5 seconds.
Adjust your healing batch size to be as close as possible to that final time.
That's it!
